Tartan’s MultiFrac™ limited-entry and EnerFrac™ single-entry systems can also be run
as open hole completions.
The same sleeve designs are utilized and run between Tartan’s Isolation Packers to provide the desired stage number and density. Pumping a ball to the Toe Circulation Sub enables pressure activation of the Isolation Packers and subsequent initiation of communication with the annulus via the Hydraulic Initiation Port.
Tartan’s Isolation Packer is a high performance, hydraulic-set open hole packer, which provides single or multiple high-pressure zonal isolation.
The Isolation Packer has a specially designed elastomer, full gauge protection and barrier rings to prevent element extrusion and an internal element locking mechanism that permanently retains element position after packer is set.
Hydraulic Initiation Port
Tartan’s patented Hydraulic Initiation Port is a hydraulically activated flow port used for the first stage of all MultiFrac™ limited-entry and EnerFrac™ single-entry systems for open hole multistage stimulation applications. The unique configuration includes a redundant BurstPoint™ port feature to ensure full opening for effective stimulation of the first stage.
Toe Circulation Sub
Tartan’s Circulation Sub (CS) is used to control flow between the completion string and annulus in all open hole multistage stimulation applications. By closing off flow with the annulus, the Toe Circulation Sub enables activation of tools in the completion string via hydraulic pressure.
The tool is activated by pumping an appropriate activation ball and is designed such that once activated, the ball is no longer needed to provide the seal.
